  • i open up diydrones.com to see much more about inspire 1 lately and admin says it's enough. What an irony!

  • Now that "Admin" has recanted the obvious attempt to close discussion of this:

    I agree with Brian Martin regarding the Rube Goldberg linkage. Exotic and interesting but no thanks. There are many much more simple ways to get landing gear out of the picture that don't involve shoving a pivoted propulsion system around with complicated linkages. For one, if you are willing to tolerate such a great vertical distance between the plane of the props and the lens, well then use fixed landing gear and contrive a simple telescoping or hinged mechanism to lower the camera. The entire concept is ludicrous. Move the camera, or at most the landing gear, not the "wings" and props... 

    The price is of course also ridiculous but that's nothing new. Then there's the proprietary battery and Tx. And a completely unknown unvetted camera (with distinctly pedestrian specs). 

    This thing belongs in one of those rich people's Christmas catalogs, along with personal gyrocopters and talking wristwatches.    

      

  • @Rob (as you probably already know) Sometimes people's main motivation is about the "looks". Functionality, simplicity etc takes a back seat when your trying to make money.  

  • I don't know about "Stifling" but I guess we are not allowed to post more than once on any topic around here.  I posted the offical video release of the Inspire 1 and it was removed yet other posts on the same topic have now also been posted.  This place is a joke anymore.

  • How much simpler would it have been to just have a simple, flat frame, and raise and lower the camera instead?
