Features: Follow Me (If you device has GPS, you can set your plane or copter to follow me and it will circle or hover above your point or trail behind you as you run for it :)

Parameters (Droidplanner has a Parameters screen which allows you to correct your parameters in flight from your android device, no laptops to lug around!

Accelerometer Calibration Droidplanner has Horizon calibration to allow you to calibrate your copter in the field, which can be a life saver if you go miles to fly and find the horizon is off.)

Flightpath Planning  Droidplanner Offers the ability to program your way points onto google maps with options for default altitude and more, it is very user friendly and works well!

Remote control Aircraft from app.  (This app has a very special feature which allows you to Control your model from the app using a touch screen interface, this means if something went wrong and you could not use your controller, or you have a friend who wants to try flying but do not have a buddy system, you can use this feature to control your Model!)

Remote control Camera Gimble (A feature unique to Droid planner allows you to control a camera gimple plugged into the apm from the App, this means rather than buying two controllers or modifying your controller to add extra control for the camera, simply switch to camera control and you have full ability to adjust the camera position as you like.)

Live Horizon and Map view with telemetry data  Switch to the flight data Tab and have full telemetry view with vocal alerts, Altitude Number of sattelites, position shown on map, Airspeed and ground speed, level and more.

These are some of the Prominent features of Droid planner, but there is so much more!.

If you want to know how to connect the MAVlink dongle to your android device it is very simple, you need to buy a chep usb to micro usb (depending on your device) adpater from somewhere like ebay or amazon, plug the one end into android device, the other into the MAV link and thats it!

  • Can you post a log?

  • Now the new vers of Droid planner changed it's name, it's Tower, try it and enjoy our group http://diydrones.com/group/tower-droidplanner , you can find other users there.

  • Maybe someone here can help. The other day I used Do for the first time with a Samsung pro 10.1. While checking out it's features with my quad in the air, I selected the camera tab. My quad went into Err:FAILSAFE_GSC-1 and then did a rth according to the log file. Naturally I was flipping out when I saw my quad flying away. Luckily I set up all the failsafes and cleared the trees I was near. I think I got control again when I got closer to the ground. Can anyone explain what happened? I am running all the latest software as I just built this last week, and just started using APM last week. Been using multiwii/baseflight/clean flight for years. I have an APM mini pro.

  • Can you load a mission from file?  I couldn't seem to find how/where to do that.

Scenario: planned mission on PC. Saved Waypoint (.txt) file to cloud (Dropbox).  Went to field w/ tablet (Nexus 7) only.   I was hoping to be able to download onto tablet and then load to Pixhawk via DroidPlanner.  Tried both v1 and v2.

  • This would be very interesting on a Win RT Tablet as well.

  • Just put Droid Planner on my Note II phone, Note tablet, and an older Asus tablet.  Note tablet doesn't connect. However, connects right up to my Note II phone and older Asus Tablet.

On both devices, about 90% of the time I fail to download parameters from my Pixhawk.  I usually see the progress bar stop around 40-70% on first attempt.  If I keep hitting refresh,  it move up to higher percentages on subsequent refreshes. Many times it will eventually get in the 93% or so range and that's is far as I get.   Sometimes, I eventually get all the parameters downloaded, but most times I give up.  A few times I've waited maybe a minute or more, but lately, I just give it a short wait once the progress bar stops, and hit refresh.

Any suggestions or advice.  Both tablet and phone have plenty of storage capacity and are functioning properly with no current or past issues.

  • @Shyam Balasubramanian A micro USB to USB converter won't work.  You must use a proper USB OTG cable for an Android device to communicate with 3DR radios.

  • Remote control Aircraft from app

Does that mean that if my telemetry has a range of 15km, I can also play with RTL, Auto, etc.. up to 15 km ?

  • Hi All,

Does this Android mission planner compatible with the new APM3.1? I've used the newest mission planner PC version for a while, and would like to know if I can just download my mission from my hexa (which I created from the pc version) to the Samsung android device?

    Thanks in advance Andi
