Ejection parachute system

trigger-system-300x285.jpg

Hi,

we worked a lot in 2015 on a project i'm proud to present you. Arctic parachute is the fruit of over a year of research by engineers with theses in parachute design and professional drone operators flying daily. Unsatisfied with the few products on the market, we set out to build a product that is engineered from the ground up to meet the needs of today’s drone enthusiasts and professionals.

Our goals were :

1- Easy to pack

2- Ejection!!!

3- Multiple attach point

4- Secure trigger system WITHOUT gas or smth like that

5- As light as possible!!!

6- And of course Cost.

Feel free to critisize in order to help us doing a better system.

  • @darius : yes you need to try it on ground at least once a month, nothing is closing the top hole, the spring is lock on the bottom side in order to not pack the chute all the time. And we wanted a simple trigger system in order to be able to test it on ground. Yes the chute is our own design but manufactured by a military (parachute) fabrik.

    @Holger S : the weight is 350g

  • Very interesting system. What is the exact weight of the 4kg system (all nuts, bolts, cables included)?

  • Thank you.

Aerodynamics of the tube attached to the drone's frame is an issue.

Spring ejection mechanism is another issue.

If not tested for a longer time may fail one day.

Really not ready to develop car bag alike ejection mechanism to work 100% any time

    (no mechanical parts) ?

Is this parachute your own product or is manufactured by third parties since it's not clear from your comments.

While looking for the best parachutes and trying almost all of them, we realized there were no centralized market place to compare the different systems, based on standardized specifications. That's what ParachuteDrone.com aims to be, a place to select, compare and inform you about all the available systems available on the market "

@darius : the tube isnt link with the chute, after deployement the chute link to the frame with 4 lines on arms. The tube is the ejection system only.

  • The idea of drone parachute is great.

Performance is ok but aerodynamics  of such  Drone + Parachute Kit

should be tested in wind tunnel first.

What is poor is mounting point assymetry vs. drone frame.

In theory it is ok since greater chance for the necessity to use a parachute

but in practice this parachute could be ejected downwards giving 1s time for propellers to stop first to protect against lines being twisted around propellers.

Any data on falling speed vs. drone's weight ?

Personally I am all for compulsory parachute for any model drone subject to registration with FAA.

Personally I would opt for a single use car crash air bag alike ejection mechanism.

  • Where can I buy this?
