HD FPV system now being prototyped!

This is what I have been waiting for!

Unfortunately the price might be an issue.

Here is their products page. I am glad to see that this is being considered for multirotor applications. It looks to be a rock solid system and will open up live HD transmission for news and sporting events.

It is technology like this that will make multirotors attractive to the TV industry.

  • Jethro, my guess is the cost and maybe a little bit the licensing. They are very expensive compared to a $100 system that does standard definition video. When I talked with them on the phone a few months ago it sounded like around $10,000 per unit depending on the exact features (Airborne Innovations). They are very cool but definitely beyond the means of most people who "do it yourself" (DIY in the name of this site...).

  • This is just awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HguUG-Iuk8o

Here is what I don't get... this should be setting the FPV community on fire, why have I not heard of this? Where is the catch?

  • The guys at Coptercam are already using HD links to broadcast live sports on TV.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBLqljSToCA&feature=youtu.be

  • Wireless HD video systems have been around for a few years. There are other systems out there for less money if the price is $5,000. For example the Paralinx Arrow which is around $1,200. Another one is the Teradek Bolt which is a little more expensive, around $3,000. Both of those have fairly short ranges like 100 yards. There are specialized systems with longer range like the MicroraptorHD from Airborne Innovations. If you're thinking about getting one make sure the frequencies are not the same as your control gear.

  • Nice, but too expensive IMHO.

    Dear Eduardo

Tell more please, if it possible.

  • HD video transmissions systems have always been around, they've just been very expensive.

  • You'd think they'd put a bit more effort into this video?  Or at least know enough to NOT use youtube's stabilization...?
