Are you able to create missions from scratch and upload to the drone? Secondly is there a way to see the full param list and edit in any way? For instance one might want to change a mode switch from RTL go CIRCLE or something. Do you anticipate this will continue to gain functionality going forward? I'm sure your aware of DP. Great app but it seems to suffer from the setbacks of the Android platform. The reliability isn't there. It would be fantastic if iDroneCtrl had a real commitment from your team to continue to improve and add functionality while keeping the interface simple. Thanks!!
@Andy
Thanks for the detailed reply. Look forward to trying your product!!
@Bill
It's a UDP connection. I'm out of commission for about a week but I will contact you and try to get it resolved. Thanks
@Richard send me a PM and I will help you fix that (unless it's a Bluetooth 2.0 bridge it which case that does not work) I use MAV Pilot with UDP/TCP connections all the time and it works great.
Bill
I have both. The bridge works great. I can use it with Android and DP aka Tower. However I never could get mavpilot to work.
@richard you can always try using a WiFI-to-915MHz bridge as described here http://www.communistech.com/support/ It will work with Android/iOS and desktop OSes
The iPhone App can be downloaded here http://appstore.com/mavpilot
Richard, The iDroneLink is set at the same default baud rate as the 3DR telemetry radios, 57600, and ships with a default net ID of 25.
We wanted that really great easy to use experience that Apple users have come to expect on iPhone and iPad and using the lighting connector had a bunch of advantages. We are able to power iDroneLink efficiently (putting the radio and other chips into low power mode when our app is not running) and getting us a really reliable physical data link.
The lighting connector really locks the iDroneLink to the iPhone or iPad - much more so than the USB OTG connections we have seen on the Android side and so iDroneLink does not have the problem of it jiggling lose during use.
As for cases, you are correct, it does need to mount flush with the phone so it requires one of the cases with a large cutout near the female lighting connector port.
I'm compiling a list of recommended cases to add to www.fightingwalrus.com and have found several that should work. For instance this one for iPhone 6 and 6 plus on Amazon:

No problem connecting your idronelink to a RFD900 if it's set to the same baud rate and channel number. What baud rate is it set to by default??
What I meant with wifi was to use the iPhones internal wifi to be the connection source for the mavlink data. So in iDroneCtrl create a setting for using TCP or UND wifi connection as the source. I guess then that would sort of defeat your idronelink device.. opps... but then you could make another device [ sell that option ] that has a telemetry module connected to a small wifly. However that does create the need to carry a separate device alone with you iPhone or iPad. Your set up is for sure simple!!!! And probably has decent range. Cant wait to try it out!!!!
Is the lightning connector long enough to use with most iphone cases?
Thanks for your hard work on this I know Apple is a pain to deal with. Nice to see you finally broke though the barrier!!
Richard, I'm glad to see your excitement and it means a lot to the team and I.
"Follow Me" is on our list for sure - we had experimented with it in the past but now that APM 3.2 and 3.2.1 is out our comfort level shipping a "Follow me" feature is much higher.
Next on our iDroneLink list is to produce more of the 433MHz versions and get them in the hands of more customers outside the US. It's doubtful that Apple would allow us to make a wifi only add-on since they already support it in their devices.
We do have a customer that was working to get the 915MHz iDroneLink connected directly with an RDF900 radio. I'll have to follow up with him.
Are there plans to have a 'follow me' mode using the iPhones or iPads gps?
