MAKE hosts a drone fly-in

First cool thing: ArduCopter is on the cover of the new MAKE magazine, which is all about drones! Second, they're hosting a drones fly-in:

This coming Tuesday we are excited to release Volume 37 of the magazine. The issue, which is the first of our larger, six-times-a-year format, is all about “homegrown drones”—maker friendly, DIY multicopters.

As with each issue release we’ll be hosting an international maker meetup. But instead of holding the event indoors, this time we’re stretching our wings with a drone fly-in event Monday, Jan. 20 from 1-4pm at Paintball Jungle in America Canyon, Calif.

Join MAKE editors, up-and-coming drone companies and startups, and local user drone groups for a day of aerial fun. Bring your friends, families, and drones for this one-of-a-kind event. RSVP right here.

MAKE will provide food and refreshment, copies of the MAKE drone issue, and cool MAKE swag. See you there!

A quad is just two sticks and four motors at the end of the day.

  • I like it caveman or Crocket-copter. I hope to attend.

  • On the weekend, I had a thought that I should make a quad frame using sticks... rough sticks cut off the trees behind my house. Lashed together with twine. Just to show that you could. :)

Charge the batteries with solar power, and it would be an eco-friendly, sustainable quad-copter.

  • Here is a sweet FPV clip of the most recent fly-in at this airfield.  It's huge.

  • Chris are you going?
  • Subscribed to the Make magazine meetup group, for now.  Bring on the spam.

  • Don't quite know how a wooden frame manages to cost $40...

  • Being on a Monday pretty much narrows it down to government employees.

  • I have to thank you for sharing this magazine! What an awesome magazine and website. It looks like the Make website will be added to my daily site visit/procrastination list :-)
