The Micro HKPilot Mega master set is a complete open source autopilot and flight controller system featuring matched hardware, cables for a Micro plug-and-play UAV control system.

The new micro Master set total weight is just 23.5g and all components can fit in a 35x35x30 cube, for the smallest UAV total solution available. Perfect for mini MultiRotors and Park UAV missions.

The HKPilot is based on the rapidly evolving and refined Ardupilot mega or “APM”, an open source project from 3DR robotics. This amazing flight controller allows the user to turn any fixed wing, rotary wing, or multi-rotor vehicle (even boats and cars) into a fully autonomous vehicle, capable of performing a wide range of tasks even programmed autonomous missions with waypoints, with the included micro high precision NEO-6M Ublox GPS. 

Various user interfaces are available for programing, reviewing logs, setup and even some Apps for smart phones and tablets. So with the APM at the end of its life cycle as far as software support is concerned i do think its great we're getting these variants but how many will they really sell i wonder?

  • @Richard  The PCB antenna definitely doesn't improve upon the range, but you have to remember what something like this is geared toward.  People eyeballing this are building 250 sized machines.  How far are you planning on flying your 250?  Anything past 400meters and it's not visible.  So while range isn't improved, the size and compactness is improved which is worth the trade-off in range.  
         It's funny because I read all of the comments on the "HKPilot mega mini" thread here and no-one seemed to get that the mini is geared toward smaller projects.  Projects where a fullsize APM or Pixhawk wouldn't be considered...  Who puts a pixhawk in a 250 anyway?

  • @Nick Arsov That AUAV-X2 looks great. I like it's use of standard 2.54mm pin headers. I just don't feel safe using those micro connectors on the Pixhawk and the micro APM: too many pins that can have a case of bad contact or fraying wires.

    I also wonder how Arducopter firmware in combination with such a small 32 bit board compares in acro performance to Cleanflight on a Naze32 or similar board. I haven't seen anyone doing insane acro flying with Arducopter yet.

  • Its easy to shrink a board if you aren't worried about quality RF noise handling, power protection, etc.

    AUAV-X2 has been nicknamed "mini pixhawk" by the German pilots because it is mini...just 30x43mm....have a look here.

  • I have 5 of these mini APMs from Whitespyquads.com.. I have them in fixed wings, and 250mm quads. Great product. I need one of those mini 900 telemetrys sets though...
  • Mini Pixhawk has existed for 2 years.

    Guys, the PX4 has a 32-bit processor, doesn't have a clunky wiring harness, and is only 1mm wider, and 15mm longer than this board.
