As a member of Arducopter (maybe not so active anymore) I have started my own business on the side line. Its call Vertical Limits Aerial Photography. Recently I have just put up my website and then also decided to market some DIYDrones products directly in South African markets. I don't have e-commerce as yet and would first try the market out to see how big it is. I have a lot of experience in using DIYDrones products and thought I could help many possible clients out in the country. My main focus will be on providing preassembled kits (no soldering required, and pretested). I will also preload firmware on the autopilot which I believe proofs to be the most stable at the time of your purchase. I myself make use of this products on a daily business. My website gets updated on a regular basis (doing it myself and looks a bit unpolished).
I have also decided to put some specific kids together which I believe could server some clients better. My products will not be as cheap as other suppliers but I hope my knowledge and additional services would proof to be worth the price.
See attached some videos I have done lately:

My idea for my business would be to focus on my current products listed (nich market). I don't see myself at least not for the near future to stock a large amount of items.
Thanx Bradley. Hope we can also do some business in the future.
Hein,
Thank you for your reply, I have a few more items to place in the store this month, I started out a year back about the same as Johann, the store here in the UK has grown a little :)
Xbees here are hard work! I have 40 Kits coming in and I can't get them here any sooner than the end of the month! I have cleaned out all the UK suppliers of stock which is good and bad....... I have thought about stocking the 900 MHz in the store but there is no market here for them as the UK is not allowed to use them.... :( they lok so good!!
Regards
Martin.
Thanx Johann for the info. Are you doing this business fulltime already? Do you use mweb and do they give the e-commerce connection or do you have to go to the bank directly? By the way I like your website.
Just a general question. Are more internet buyers using PayPal in general with there purchases? I know that I normally just use PayPal but not sure if its the general move. I think moving my website to e-commerce with PayPal only will be more easier then supporting all kinds of credit cards.
Johann who are you using for e-commerce connection? not sure how this setup works. Basically what option are there and is it expensive?
Hi Johann,
How many distributors are we in South Africa? I also recently found out about you. Wish you also good luck. If you are back in the market then surely there must be something going on here. I am wandering what our FAA rules are about selling these UAV products?
Hi Ellison,
Not sure about that one, maybe......if yes, then there is hope for business.
Hi Kernal,
Drop me a email at heinh@vlap.co.za so that I can forward a quote. Don't have it on my website as yet. Still working on some stock levels. Are you from South Africa? What is the latest on the 900Mhz Xbee status in South Africa? legal / not legal / not sure? We can not use 1.2Ghz because that will not work nice with 2.4Ghz radio.
Hi Martin,
Love the website. Looks like you are all sorted there.
Hello Hein,
Welcome to the growing family of UAV distributors around the globe, I run a UK store build your own drone selling in the UK & EU :)
Regards
Martin
Nice, Got a few options where I can order locally now :)
Wow, looks like SA is a hotbed of UAVs!
