  • Jared, you have my namesake, so from one Jared to another, I just want to say that these quads are flying really well.Watch the vid and see. Again, they are fun to make and fun to fly. I have a lot of interest in them and I prefer to keep the feeling positive.

    Have a great day!

  • newsflash dude on  my old quad with plywood laser cut frame, 2600Mah battery 3s, 15 minute flight with video and camera equipment which included a second 1000mah battery for the wireless video... You have serious efficiency loss

  • Thanks for the words of encouragement . The proof is in the videos. 8 minute flight time ( 20 % left in the tank), motor/esc temps are good, on a 3s 3300, and it's a fun flying frame. No scientific analysis needed, just grab and go have fun.

Again, watch the videos. Flying APM 2.5 in acro only

  • Looks fancy, but more of a novelty with all the prop wash hitting all that flat surface

  • They are nice but I lost you at there is no loss of efficiency, which we all know is not true, i laser cut my own frames and have made dozens of designs and found that even surface area near the tips of the prop, not directly under it will cause large loss of efficiency, these frame are definitely more show than go but they do look very nice.

Thing is you have effectively on each rame introduced over 6x the surface area blocking air flow of a traditional single beam which not only means loss off efficiency due to no lift in the area but loss of efficiency as flowing air in that area will be obstructed and cause turbulence which also lowers air flow.

Wow...  Interesting, but yeah, limited I would have thought.  I'm sure the customs agency of a few countries would have issue with this.  Lol.

"Oh it's ok officer, i'm just importing a large shuriken star shaped flying lawn mower."  HA! (:

It is good to see people doing different things with this though.

  • LOL, a perfect match for my stm32 baseflight mod called "Harakiri"....

  • "better" in my opinion depends on your personal tastes as well as what you want from it. I have numerous multicopters I fly, most of them with apm boards. I have a large AP hex, fast and furious quads, and fpv 450mm size quads, etc. I haven't flown the scorpion, but have flown a TBS, and I have both QAV 500 and 400. My new frame in the vids flies real nice on the 3s and like a bat outa h*ll on 4s. I can't wait for the rev. esc /prop situation to work out, so I can fly real 3d like my heli.

  • So which is a better copter: a ninja, a black sheep, or a scorpion?
