Hi,
First the power button is not in the center because the space inside is very tight, this is why this ground station is so small.
As for the price, currently because its produced in limited quantities with a 3D printer and the interior components over all are expensive.
P.S. We tested this GCS with APM with great success with the original phantom transmitter. we also installed a 6 position switch to change flight modes and manage to engage the fail-safe feature in the APM.

Like others have suggested on the 2 blogs you posted in October about this controller, you should consider moving the power button to the middle of the controller underneath the screen so users don't accidentally flip the switch off during use.
