Pipo ISU - a new IMU/MCU board

Hi guys,

I've been hard at work making a small, single board hardware platform for stabilization/autopilot purposes.

The board is very small.  Currently it measures 1.5"x1.1" (39mm x 28mm).   It runs a 16Mhz Atmel Atmega328p.

Also, included on board are a 3-axis mems gyro, 3-axis mems accelerometer and a 3-axis magnetometer (no in the picture above).

Input voltages are 5v-16v.

The board can see use up to 16 I/O ports for PWM (in/out), external modules etc...

There's also a I2C header for external I2C units.

The alpha boards are already running a cut-down DCM code:

I'm planning to implement fist a version of the Ardupirates code.

If you're interested in one of these please drop me a line here or via email (erezraviv@gmail.com)

  • Whatever I do that is based on Ardupirates will be open-source.
Once I have the preliminary version working right I'll publish the source.
  • Is this open-source?
  • About the weight... I have a problem. I can't measure it! 30 grams is an educated guess. I need to find a laboratory scale for this thing :)
  • Baro is on my todo list however it's not that close yet.

For some reason the video didn't show in the first post.

  • "less than an ounce"

C'mon Erez you can do better than that ; )

What's the precise weight? We, the nerds that makes stuff fly need to know this.

  • Very cool, how about baro?

I think the MultiWii guys will like it:

  • Another image to show how small it is:

  • The sensors are:
    Gyro: L3G4200D - 3-axis MEMS gyro.
Accel - ADXL345 - 3-axis MEMS. I might swap with a Freescale unit if it has the performance to match. Currently you can't beat the ADXL.
Compass - HMC5843. Tough to get my hands on these but they seem to perform really well.
  • I like it!

More details on the sensors please
  • Impressive little board, worth keeping an eye on. I'd be interested what static position accuracy you can get (without GPS) when you finish the port.
