Pixhawk is Ready for Takeoff

3689562888?profile=originalAfter months of rigorous testing, we are pleased to announce that our Pixhawk autopilot is now in production and ready to ship.

Designed by the PX4 open-hardware project and manufactured by 3D Robotics, Pixhawk delivers industry-leading performance and flexibility for controlling any autonomous vehicle.

Our new Pixhawk represents a significant improvement over our standard APMs, offering enhanced reliability, robust power, a broad range of USB power options and a second sensor port – for a dual IMU system. The second sensor chip not only provides redundancy, but enables the combination of different sensor inputs.

This release follows months of beta-testing by the IRIS-Developer community.  Based on their feedback, we improved the noise immunity of the power supplies and added the MPU 6000 to supplement the LSM303D accelerometer.

We are grateful to the community for their valuable feedback.

  • I'm wondering if I purchase now how long of a wait until it ships? I know they will be shipping out past orders just wondering if theres going to be a long wait. I tried to email help but never got a answer.

    Thank's

  • Thanks Chris, I wrote them and they just informed me that they start shipping the orders as they were received starting January 13th. No ETA or approx number in queue :)

Anton: Please contact customer support at help@3drobotics.com for changes in your order. The team is currently going through final QA tests on a new batch of microSD cards and a software update that will make writing to them more robust. Shipments should resume in the next day or two.

  • I'd like to hear any ETA for the shipping as I have an issue of moving from my address soon... l may not get a new address for about 3 months...

I've ordered mine in October and the order is R272631830

Any chances to get it shipped before my birthday on 11th of January? :)

  • Thanks, Chris, glad that was an easy fix and I'm impresed (but not surprised) that you caught it. I'm really happy to be getting involved with your company and products, and look forward to both flying and following your innovations.

Brit, just an issue with a bad batch of SD cards from a third-party supplier. There should be a new batch coming in early this week. Once they're tested and pass, shipments should resume.

The two sets of sensors was just an opportunity to add a feature to the board and default the code to the sensor set that's already well tested. The second set of sensors will be turned on later in the code.

  • I just got my Pixhawk Order update 12/31 that there was a manufacturing defect identified, and that shipping would be again delayed. I'm not too bummed really about the delay, but would it be okay to share with us what kind(s) of defects were identified and what had to change? Just curious -- and I'd also like to know how the PH ended up with two sets of gyros and accels. That's pretty cool!

  • I received an email yesterday that my Pixhawk was on the way. About 3 hours later I received another email telling me to disregard the first, that a problem had occurred on the line and mine would be delayed. That's OK because I want to make sure 3DR takes the time to get everything the best it can be.

At least I'm close to getting mine.

  • Just received my shipment notification yesterday although it's just the reserver tracking number, I'm guessing it will ship this week or next. Excited! (Ordered a few days after the original release announcement).

  • Merry Christmas and thanks soooo much for the update.
