3689543184?profile=originalThe Sky Drone FPV system is a fully digital long range and low latency video transfer system for DIY drones and remote controlled vehicles. Sky Drone FPV utilizes 3G & 4G/LTE networks and automatically adapts the video transmission frame by frame to bandwidth availability, ensuring minimal latency in data transmission. The data transfer between hardware and the groundstation app is AES-256 encrypted, so even the NSA can't hack into your video feeds. Telemetry data from a connected 3D Robotics APM board that is transmitted via MAVLink can be plotted on the live FPV video stream as a Head Up Display (HUD).

Complete with a groundstation application for iOS, Android and BlackBerry pilots receive real-time full HD FPV video straight on his or her smartphone or tablet. A unique feature of the Sky Drone FPV is the option to take 5 megapixel high quality still images during flight. The images are instantly transmitted to the app while the video keeps running.

Sky Drone FPV is currently running an Indiegogo Campaign to raise money to complete the last stages of the Sky Drone FPV development and take it into production. In exchange for your financial support, Sky Drone has some amazing offers. Early Birds who pledge just $ 349 USD receive are the first to receive the full Sky Drone FPV set. This offer is limited to just 99 sets. Head over the Sky Drone Indiegogo Campaign page to get more details as well as a demo video of the Sky Drone FPV.

  • We will try to minimize everything as good as possible (while sticking to the main components mentioned in the tech details). Due to different mounting requirements (e.g. small/big multicopters or fixed wing aircrafts) we will not provide a case.

  • Subbed

  • Will it come in some kind od case?

  • Thanks for your reply. I am a strong believer and supporter of FPV over 3/4G. I just found your hardware proposal too bulky but I guess that's a start.

    I keep monitoring your progress.

    Good luck !

  • No, it would not be easier:
    - The app might crash and can't automatically restart.

    - You do not have total control over the system from within an app sandbox.

    - If you want to use a gimbal you would have to mount the phone on the gimbal

    - ... and many more reasons ;)

We are proud to have a out of the box solution. You power it up, and it works.

  • Why reinventing the hardware when all of it is already in any smartphone?

Would it not be easier to develop an app for the phone and the ground station?

  • You are right, the signal is better if you are lower but you also compensate a lot heaving a higher likelihood of a direct line of sight to the cell tower when flying. Unless you are going up on really high altitudes it usually isn't a problem at all.

  • I am a bit confused, as far as I know the 3g cellular tower especially here in Denmark is designed such that the antenna is pointing downwards so flying via the cell network is that you won't be able to gain very much altitude. The reason is because the cell antennas are angled to point downwards, so in other words it would be a problem if you were planing to fly high altitudes.

  • The "controller" is a BeagleBone Black board.

  • Can you please explain what is the board depicted as "controller" ?
