SkyFy Technologies is proud to announce a we have conquered an amazing engineering challenge for drone inspections! We we believe in capturing data without losing quality, so we worked with our partners to develop a new craft and camera combo with increased stability for stabilized 50x optical zoom. The meticulously designed craft offers increased stabilization which allows the zoomed image captured to have increased clarity. We are now able to capture distant data that is typically difficult to obtain at a very high quality.

Our ground breaking inspection technology is now available in for inspection services in Canada under our SFOC.

Thanks Rob, I used to use servo gimbals, but they simply aren't smooth enough when the aircraft suddenly moves, also, I'm having a hard time finding one with a slipring that will allow full 720 degrees rotation. They're also bigger, adding to the airbrakes - they all seem to be made with multi's in mind.

  • You know microsoft used accelerometers for deblurring pics.  Might be possible to get steadier results by recording accelerometer readings and using in combination with a physical gimbal for digital stabilization in post processing?

  • Hein, you should investigate using a servo gimbal.  With Ardupilot driving the gimbal, no worries about the gimbal performance at extreme angles.

The problem with all the brushless gimbals I have tried to work with, is the really poor AHRS algorithm they use.

Ah BOSS stands for "Balanced Optical SteadyShot" - I thought it was a gimbal. Trick is to have a gimbal that works will with a handycam. All brushless gimbals go ape near the end of their travel, so on a plane banking @ 45 degrees it's a no go. The search continues...

  • what also is odd is there website has a stock photo of a very old laptop with a parallel port

  • google fu "sony boss handycam"

Hi Rob, where do I get more information on BOSS? Can't find anything on search engines.

  • BOSS is boss.

John, it's surprising how well that works with servo gimbals, but it can't compare to BOSS on a brushless gimbal, which is close to perfect.  There's a guy, I think Steamboat Aerials, who uploaded some tests a couple years ago.  They were great.

They're using ardupilot though so I wish them the best of luck!
