  • I was thinking if it could be possible on a satellite modem bandwidth, that way it would work anywhere in the world, regardless of whether there's a phone tower or not.

    @Adam Kroll thanks for pointing this out. This is indeed a possibility, and even basic SMS messages are sufficient to setup and manage a flight mission. However, soon or later you need a good internet connection to download the sensor recordings!

  • This is a great idea if it can be done safely.  Also remote sites where we fly our UAV's often have poor internet connections, if the data transfer rate is minimised it would be effective over more regions of the world.

  • How do they get around requirements for being within line of sight?
