I just just bought a gimbal from bestluckybuy. this gimbal:

I made a little video to compare stabilization. Video on the left side gimbal, right side gopro attached on the front of the TBS Discovery.
Next step, adaptation of the gimbal in front like a TBS Discovery Pro.

I just ordered one of these. Now I need to get the quad fixed so I can actually use it.
@Nathaniel: Yup, the telemaster is still going strong. Did a 42 minutes flight this afternoon on an 8000mah 5 cell battery. Cruising about 25 kts, it's just a big fat baby in the air. I'm thinking a gimble would be pretty cool to add soon, but I'd love to at least have the option to directly control the motors if I want to see how things compare with my own attitude estimator.
Is there any way to mount this style of gimbal where it does not hang down but faces forward to avoid having to elevate the copter?
The brushless gimbal motors have no gears, no backlash, no ratcheting and because they have a dedicated controller which has a gyro that is attached to the camera body itself.
The only job the built in controller does is to continuously respond to that gyro to tell the motors to make it level, so zero controller lag.
Unlike APM servo gimbal control where camera gets small CPU time slice to figure out more complex and less accurate camera pointing for idealized but unrealized mount.
Basically with brushless gimbals controllers, the camera just very smoothly stays where it is pointed while frame rotates around it.
Generally absolute pitch can also be controlled direct from your transmitter and on controller simply adds an offset to the gyro level point.

Still flyin' the Senior Telemaster eh? I think the S.T. is big enough you could knock a hole in the bottom of the fuse and just stick the business end of this gimbal out the bottom! I hope maybe next year I'll get my S.T. repaired and back in the air......maybe.

Can I ask a couple dumb questions? What is the advantage of 'brushless' motors over digital servos? Are the brushless motors powered and run just like regular servos? What voltage/amp power do you need to provide to the controller board? How tall is this (how much clearance do I need to mount it?) I'm wondering about mounting it under my Senior Telemaster which has maybe 12-13cm of clearance depending on how much I'm willing to drag my camera through the grass. Thanks!
