i bought my APM solderd from udrones with excelend service, speed and pricing from the other end of the world, but they've must done a mistake here in pricing.. 1200usd for ardubixler & telemetry??? if i buy 530 for arduplane presolderd, 75 for bixler, 25 for avionics base and 150 for telemetry, i steel keep 200 to pay my self for open then boxes and press firm upload...
its an excelend idea -lets say gift for Xmas -but something didnt calculated right.
I will re-word my comments because I was informed that some of the words I was using to describe this might have legal implications. I personally applaud the production of ready made FPV and drones for the uber rich consumer. I love more people at the field. I however, respectfully believe that if high prices are to be charged a high quality product needs to be delivered from both the electronic side and plane side. I have little to zero knowledge of the electronics that go into this drone, as I personally use eagle tree for all my needs, but I feel that the plane that is being sold in this particular package is inconsistent with the quality standards that I expect in such in such a high ticket item specifically a high ticket item being endorsed by this fine website. I would be pleased to outline in full detail the surprisingly cheap upgrades (in relation to it's monetary cost) that this plane needs in order to be a really great plane for starting drone research. I am sorry again to the mods for using loaded language, but I just am very passionate about quality and given about year with exclusively this plane I can basically say with confidence that it's going to break after the first few flights likely destroying the electronics bay unless several changes are made.
I should have read the post more carefully. It is not RTF, it is ARF because you need your own RC gear, charger etc. They should probably change the title of the product in their store.
It is easy to add up the cost of the base components and complain that it is too expensive, but you have to add in the labor costs and overheads. If you have customers willing to pay that price, then good luck to you. A turnkey solution is attractive to some people.
My question would be is it actually ready to fly? Does it include battery, charger, transmitter & receiver?
I personally am trying to do everything for the lowest possible cost. Not only because I don't have a heap of money to spare, but I think having to put everything together yourself gives you a much better understanding of how it all works, and how to fix it when something goes wrong.
It's very traditional to charge a lot of money to set up the electronics on a plane from scratch. They do claim to do all the soldering and they did probably build that canopy. I just object to the fact that at that price they are selling you a junk plane. There is a link to the plane --->

It's actually a great plane once it's upgraded, but that takes a few hours effort to get it right.
I can not see how it added up to 995 USD ? the price seems to be very high unless I am missing something.
It's Bixler/Sky Surfer I believe. The current easystar does not have ailerons. I notice that they have made the bold choice to keep the shitty prop that bends like a leaf in the wind and makes a ton of noise as opposed to upgrading it to a the 2.49$ functional version that everyone with half a brain uses. It also doesn't look like it has properly embedded carbon fiber rods in any of the required areas in order to make it not suck, and it's not been given a packing tape wrap. These are all essential upgrades to make that specific plane functional.
What your paying for here looks to be an electronics bundle and some nice shelving units inside a hobbyking 75$ POS plane. Add up the price of the electronics, add 75$ for the plane, and then subtract that from 1000$. You'll get the cost.
I promise you that the nose of that plane will split in one crash.

That is a very nice looking setup! The font treatment on the side logo gives it a classy look. Looking at this, I imagine that there would be a healthy market for a version of this with an integrated FPV system. You'd probably have to include the RC gear in the package to ensure that everything would work, out of the box...so the price would probably more than double. While you were at it, you could go ahead and bundle a couple of batteries and a charger to make it really accessible to non-RC folks. Just knowing that everything you have is compatible would remove a lot of headaches for newbies.
I guess the downside of making it easy to buy everything at once would be supporting customers who had paid a lot of money for the full kit but aren't able to diagnose and fix problems because they didn't gradually build up their skills and their airplane's abilities over several months. Maybe the price would need to triple?
Great stuff, this would a a great platform for newcomers to the hobby to get started fast! I also noticed they are selling RTF arducopter too!
