[Update] DroidPlanner v0.9.0

Another update on DroidPlanner, now it has nicer HUD. The new app (v0.9.0) is on Google Play. 663c4da8-d850-11e2-992b-7d5adc28ff08.png

The new version has the following updates ( v0.9.0 over v0.8.0):

  • New HUD
  • Removing old Terminal screen
  • APM level calibration using a menu button.
  • Ability to read/save parameters from/to a .param file.
  • Russian language available
  • Greek language available
  • Latvian language available
  • German language available
  • Fixed some bugs
  • Improvements to the code structure

    Good work, Hoping to see this work with MP/UDB,  cool looking GCS./HUD.   Arrow pointing HOME would be gr8(or did I miss it?)

    @Daniel. As I posted above. HUD and GPS mostly wrorks out of the box. That is all. The Droidplanner platform has great potential but will need development at both ends to (Droidplanner and MatrixPilot) before it is end user ready.

    Hi Daniel,

    As of now it does not do much bi-directional stuff with UDB4/MatrixPilot but I believe after a few tweaks it does. Pete has the details on that. I have a new aircraft with a UDB4/AUAV3 and plan to do PID tuning with this App on a tablet over WiFi.

    Hi.

    That sounds great. 

    I have both UDB4s (on my Gliders, FPV, etc.) and APM2.5s (quad,  FPV plane).

    Please confirm or clarify if UDB4 (MatrixPilot) already works with DroidPlanner with full flight plan functionality, that includes "real-time" waypoints creation (with full attributes and options), write, load and save; navigation and setup parameters management, as DroidPlanner and other GCS (AndroPilot, MP, QGCS) works with APM?

    If does would you kindly point me to the relevant UDB4 MatrixPilot wiki.  Much appreciated.

    Done. Can't get the TCP thing to work, DP connects but get no updates on the HUD, not to worry, it's only out of interests sake I wanted to see if I could get it to work.

    I just checked and up to yesterday DP has got 1964 active users :).

    TCP was good enough for me to develop, so I stopped there. Any issue that you find just add to the issue traker, I hope to make a somewhat generic Ground Station.

    Dave:

    Currently you can only modify the parameters directly using the parameters screen. There is a dedicated screen I'm doing, but development has stalled in the last couple of weeks (finishing one of my last semesters in college). If someone want's to keep the work going here is the branch. One good way  to help is to just list what parameters should be on this screen, how it should look (keep in mind small devices), any thoughts add them to this issue.

    Bob:

    There isn't a repositories for the apk's, because google play does a good job of versioning/ updating user phones. One way is to compile from the source. But if you send me an email I can reply with the last version.

     Pete Hollands: I love the 33F series, the PPS is a must in any micro (ok, maybe  it is somewhat useless in a PIC10F222). Here is a project I did a while ago using a pic33F. I'll like to join you in the development, but I'm already involved with ArduPilot so there is no time. But I would be glad to work together to make DP fully compatible.

    Like I said, I would like to keep DP generic. Generic in the sense it can fly lot's of boards, and lot's of vehicles ( maybe multiple ones at the same time). That way we all can work together in a single GCS. Maybe it's a dream, but I know I will keep my end working.

    I have designed a board some time ago to simplify this stuff (here is a sample of it working with an early version of DP). Let's break the problem in two:

    1. Get a link between the laptop and the tablet. This can be done using a Wifi router, or an adhoc network on the laptop.
    2. Bridge the MAVLink data that comes via USB to a TCP connection. Here is a guide on how to accomplish this. Michael Oborne has added another way sometime ago to do it directly from Mission Planner, but I haven't explored it yet.

    Since you are a moderator maybe you can help-me on this: How can I get one of those "developer" banners for my diydrones avatar?

    Arthur, how can I use Droidplanner on my phone with the 3DR radio connected to a WiFi laptop? (In plain english :) )
