  • Need a little help here. I have a month old Hexa from 3Dr. I was testing my gimbal this morning and when I when to launch one of the motors was not spinning much should I look at the motor going out or esc?  A month old not good at all.

  • Hi Wayne, Bill, et al,

I just uploaded a video of my setup and apparent problem.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beOt-r2cU7s

I am really excited to get this thing in the air. I believe it has all the components... but I must be not doing something correctly.

Any advice/ suggestions are more than welcome.

    Thanks to all viewers,

    mark

  • Mark, if you have the power module, you don't need the jumper. If you don't use the power module you can use the jumper. It should have some with the APM controller. It is a small black square. This is a jumper like is used on a hard drive and other electronics to select options.

Look at this link to see the options on powering.

  • Mark,
When I said do a "reset" I don't mean hit the reset button, I meant via CLI, type in 'SETUP', 'RESET' and it wipes your board clean back to factory defaults. Then I loaded my parameters, then my GPS started working. I have no idea if this is your problem, but I had the same symptom and that's how I got it working again.

@mark: please go to http://copter.ardupilot.com for step by step setup instructions. I'm assuming you have the APM Power module so there is no need to use the power supply from the ESCs. This means you less likely have a brownout and a crash. If you have any further questions, raise then as a forum discussion as its much easier to discuss the particulars. Thnaks

(Wow: autocorrected from setup to stupid. That's definitely not what I meant!)
  • @Wayne, so I would need that jumper in order to power it like I would the kk2 board correct? Sorry if I sound like a newbie... I am! Where could I get such a jumper?

  • Thanks @Wayne. Man, I really want to get this thing set up! More tomorrow. Thanks all!

  • @Mark -

APM 2.5 has a two buss system for power. If you use the 3DR power module, it can power the receiver and APM. There is a jumper you can install and power the entire system from one of the ESCs. Check the setup stuff on the APM.

  • Yeah I just tried the reset button, and loaded in everything again.. still nothing. I'll get it, just really frustrating... I will say I am super excited about getting this all to work. My next problem seems to be the electrical which for whatever reason doesnt seem to take the power from the ESCs... oh well... one step at a time. Thanks for the response. Any help is totally welcome ;) ---cheers all.

  • I had a similar thing happen where the GPS wasn't bring seen. I swapped out with another GPS and that didn't help, so I knew it was a software issue. I saved my parameters, reset the APM, reloaded the parameters and everything worked again.
    I'll never know what happened.

Drone flying to non visible point

Hi there,I encountered a problem, while flying in auto mode, with approching to point that was not set by trajectory and is not visible after downloading mission from flight controller by Mission Planner. Does anybody encountered similar problem. The situation is that in the middle flight I stopped the UAV and uploaded new mission and after changing to auto mode it starts to fly in some direction. It goes straight to some point, so I assume it's not mechanical problem. I attached the link to…

Will AHRS_ORIENTATION=8 for Arducopter 3.2.1 on APM 2.5 using a traditional Heli

I have been Reading Chris Olsen posts and watching his videos on Arducopter with traditional Helis using a Pixhawk.I have inherited an older Trex 450 heli with the old Align 3G FBL hardware.  The FBL controller appears to be bad.  So I have an old APM 2.5 without a compass or GPS on board.  I just want to replace the failed Align 3G FBL system with the APM.Now I have to mount the APM under the skids on the heli so the APM will be upside down.I have Two questions.1)  Is the AHRS_ORIENTATION=8…
