  • Hi,

How can I reverse the control surfaces on pitch,, roll works right,, i need the change just pitch,   I am controlling by joystick

  • @ tomi.

By checking or un-checking the "reverse" boxes on the radio calibration page it will change the "autopilot control without affecting normal pass through control. I had the same problem.

  • Hi, I am new APM plane user,, I got my new APM 2.6 , I use it on flying wing,,   on FBWB mode the movment of control surfaces are not correct, Does anyone know how to set ,

    Thx

  • Geofencing = uncrashable mode??  So, I just got my APM 2.5 up and running.  So far, I have used Stabilize, Training, and Loiter.  And it was awesome!  I have some kids AND friends that would like to learn to fly.  I can't help but notice that training moder is GREAT, but I want minimum and maximum altitude limits, as well as roll and pitch angle limits.  This should prevent hitting the ground or flying out of sight.  Is there any step-by-step stuff for setting that sort of thing up??

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • talking about swinglet, I really dont like their commercial strategy, so expensive.....

  • Hi Frejus

I am having a flying wing with 11m/s cruise speed. With chdk and a fast SD card you can get a picture every 2.2 seconds with a canon SX260 in shutter priority mode.

I chose the flying wing design over a traditional design because it sustains mich Harder beatings. We are operating our UAVs in rough terrain so this is more important to us than efficiency.

    Hope that helps

  • hank you guys.

@Mike : yes I am aware of this company in Lausanne but they are using their own proprietary techno while I want to go for standard stuff only. I believe their wing has much physical appeal + transportation advantages but could be easily topped in terms of flying and stability by any cheap plane in the market.

    @John,

You are right about the 10 years old APN. I am now diving into a Skyhunter vs Skywalker vs Easyglider comparison so that I can indeed replace the Canon APN with some neat Sony 5R + quality lens and board 3x 4S 5000 ma battery.

80 minutes flight / 50 miles seems now a reasonable target to reach, right ?

  • Check the Swinglet YouTube channel: thei just published a mission of doing orthophotos of the Matterhorn in Switzerland for mapping purposes. Pretty awesome. Their wing is quite small and light to be compliant with Swiss legislation.

It's less a matter of what kind of flying support you use for your camera than the post-processing process to take full advantage of your pics.

You will find people using fixed wings (swinglet, X5, X8, etc...) you will find people using planes, from 1.4m wingspan to 2.5m and probably even more, you will find people using a quad-copter or even a helicopter. It depends on how you want/are able to take your pics, but mostly of how your pics will be post-processed.

Personnally, I took pics with quadcopter and a sports cam (gopro, lic ego, Magicam) for evaluating hog damage in corn fields. The fisheye lenses didn't allow for precise mapping, but it was enough for the task at hand.

    Hope this helps.

  • Frejus... You need to use quality camera gear not some 100 dollar 10 year old cannon. The times your camera is able to take a photo and recover is dependent on the camera. If CHDK is an issue its easy to change the script you use.  Speed should not be a factor in this sort of photography. If you want to rush down the farm field and snap snap snap you will not get results it has to be a mix of everything to get optimal results.  After all this is the SR-71.  RV Jet,  X5, X8 Skywalker 1900 or whatever plane you use is sometimes more preference than anything. But if if you need payload, long fight times you start to limit the choices especially at the 60 minute and up mark in the hobby realm of purchase power.

  • The more I read about wings, the bigger my doubt...

I mentioned orthophotography, and speed is not so good.

As a matter of fact, slow speed is required for being allowed to take more pics in a certain distance, meaning a higher final definition.

Let's say an APN + CHDK can only take full definition pics every 3 seconds.

The distance when flying at 20mph and 60 mph is 3 times less, meaning accuracy can be way better. For that very reason I believe a plane is not as sexy a look but would allow for fantastic slow flights.

Now how is speed correlated to ability to perform during high winds ? Any specialist ?

Cruise speed

Hi,I want to adjust cruise speed. At default settings I have a ground speed of about 42km/h (without airspeed sensor), and I think the optimal speed should be lower. In the mission planner I have value "Cruise speed", default 12m/s. I updated it to 9.5, but don't see any change in actual cruise speed. How to set cruise speed? Are these different settings with RTL speed? For RTL I prefer keep it as is - less efficient, but more reliable. Is it possible to adjust cruise speed during flight, providing…

Long distance LiPo

I'm currently building a Talon (v3), mainly waiting for parts. While looking for high capacity batteries I found out two things; There are a lot of brands, and prices are still steep in the high-cap regions.I've also seen a few people on the Tube using 18650 cells, but none of those explain why.Does anyone here have experience with these custom 18650 packs? And which 'cheap' brands of standard 5~12A 4S seem to work best?I'm going to use an Emax GT3526 710KV swinging a 13x6.5 prop, which should…

Quad plane pitch problem

Hi I have been setting up 2 quad planes, pretty standard setups...flying wing with 4 vtol motors and a rear mounted pusher motor. Both builds wich are on different firmware versions have reversed pitch in quad mode but correct pitch and pitch stabilisation in plane mode. I cannot for the life of me find a parameter related solely to quad pitch reversal. Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Thanks.

PreArm Check Error : Gyros inconsistent

Hi guys, I have a Pixhawk from Radiolink and always in every first attempt of armed I get the error "PreArm: Gyro Inconsistent".The most strange thing is that i'm using only the external gyro+compass. i disabled the internal to avoid this issue. Also- I tried to recalibrate the gyros at least 5 times.- I changed the firmware version from the latest to the 3.8.53 because i have a friend with the same board and he does not have issues. But i have the same behaviorIf i disconnect the battery and…
