I thought it was about time to start a U.K group, mainly due to the time difference between us and USA, so members can discuss their issues here and hopefully get the help they require sooner? Also it possible there is someone living not far away from yourself that you could swap ideas with and get first hand help and advice with your project.

    What is simple mode? :)

Where do you buy the jacob frame Dave?

So when you flyin the heli? sounds like good fun.. Never flown one but I know what the controls do?. I think if I bought my missus a Ladybird I would get a load of abuse :) You must be lucky Dave I still need to find a woman that has an interest in what I do? or at least pretend...

  • I'm in Brum from info, if any of you are on your travels...

Wicked simple mode example Dean, or if it ain't simple mode can i book some flying lessons please ;)

I love my tri, I'm starting to look at most of my quads as tri's with a spare arm and motor.

A great place to start with a tri i reckon is the jacob frame, it's super light, fun to build - even teaches you a bit about flight dynamics, and very cheap to fix. I've had 4 different controllers on this frame now, and it makes me laugh every time. It's so light with an apm2 with standard jdrones 850 kit and 10*4.5 props I reckon it'll pull about 50 mph horizontally easy but still behave like a pussy cat at low revs. I suppose my lighter quads are a bit like this, but the tris have a certain something, especially if you put a halloween mask between the front two arms ;)

And no I've not been flying in 2 weeks, instead been working 15 hours a day. Nice. It's gonna mean one hell of a hobbyking order though when I get my life back and then as a consequence a whole load of flying.

The Missus has arranged for me to fly the real thing (well, conv. heli) for my birthday! Get in! (Don't tell her but I got her a ladybird to say thanks ;)

  • Cheers Martin - seeing as most of the parts - and loads of helpful tips - came from you that'd be great. Don't think I can get down there this weekend but will let you know when it's possible. Thanks again for all your help..

Greg if you are down towards Basingstoke you would be welcome to join me for a little fly about :) I'm going to be testing a few copters on the weekend, weather playing ball..... I have a Driod Worx CX4 & Hexa, I'm going to be testing. The Hexa has way points etc and I'm making some films to go on my YouTube channel...... it's all work, work & more work* :)

A Newbie Question

Hello there,Have waited a long time to finally dive into DIY drone construction, but after a few years I wanted to jump into something that I love, but have only experienced through other people.I'm willing to spend sometime and money to do this right, buying parts instead of one ready to go kit; but of course I would like advice.I don't want to get into something too involved too early, as I think caution and going slow to get to grips is probably the best way with these things.Found this…

UK Newbie

Hi all,I am Jason - 42 years old in the Midlands UK.I have been a recreational quad flyer for just over a year - using a flywheel f450 with a go pro - no fpv set up yet.I run my own specialised cleaning business and have done for 10 years but i would like to become CAA certified and i am just about to book the course. I would like to then get a better set up and then slowly start doing some commercial work, probably free at first to build a portfolio before setting about trying to make a career…
