Hello,I bought an Iris+ with the gimbal, Black Pearl FPV and a GoPro in 2015 and used it to take a video of my farm.--After the initial activity in 2015 (my first experience with a drone), I was busy with other things, so the drone sat on a shelf (in it's case). In 2017 I brought out the IRIS+ again, and discovered online that 3DR was out of business-- and I could no longer get parts--so I thought I was just totally out of luck with this drone and put it back in the box.2022: I got out the…
Read more…well today just wasn't my day.I wanted to video some today of a lake near here that is soon to be refilled after the dam was replaced for the 2nd time. I preflighted my IRIS+ and even flew it around the yard some, it operated flawlessly. so i got ready and went to the lake. I put in my battery, waited for the IRIS+ to give the green light.i took off, flew around the perimeter of the lake some, and then headed offshore ( no water yet, just the streams ) i get about half way over the lake and…
Read more…I have an Iris + using a Spektrum satellite and DX9 radio. I can only get the Iris to arm and motors run when the Iris is connected to my computer via USB (plus with LIPO plugged in of course). If I go through this procedure without the USB cable attached, The Iris will initialize, LED will blink green, safely button pushed, stick right down on radio, LED changes to yellow and alarm goes off. It will also turn from blinking green to yellow without attempting to arm if I just leave if for a short…
Read more…Took Iris out for some flights yesterday and still flies great. But the USB port on my GoPro 4 Silver seems to have failed for charging and data transfer... but strangely still worked for Iris+ FPV. So the battery is dying and who knows how long the FPV will function even if I get an external battery charger.Question: are there any other cams that are compatible with the Iris/Tarot setup? I am reluctant to get another GoPro 3 or 4 since they seem to have fragile USB ports... and I don't…

hi, im not very versed on these forums but i was told to come ask a question here. i have an iris+ i just did latest 3.2.1 update so i did a compas calibration as well again i must have done it 10 times already . first off when done i click ok and some mag numbers come up such as 9-120-11 these numbers are just off my head not realistic then i click ok and another set of 3 numbers pops up one of those numbers is of about 543 now i understand that none of these numbers should be above 250 if im reading that right? what makes this more confusing is i go update a apm 2.6 and do comp cal on that as well ( now this is a wing platform this time..... and i only get one set of mag numbers xx-xx-xx . i dont know if thats a good thing or because its a 2.6 or because its a total different platform. so confused on whats right and wrong. oh,crap.sorry-hard to follow this format.
but thank you for the info.
Chip -- you are leaving comments on the "Comment Wall" section of the DIYDrones forum, which is not a great place to ask questions. (If I were king, it would be disabled. There is the ability to start a discussion here in the DIYDrones IRIS forum by clicking the "+add a discussion" button. This makes a thread that is easier to see. There is also the official 3DRobotics forums at http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=48
The most active IRIS+ community seems is on FaceBook. There is a FaceBook Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3DRIRIS/ I also wish the discussion area here, or at the 3DR Robotics forum were more active because the FaceBook group, while full of helpful people, is not great software for following specific threads.
is this the only iris+ forum in the world?
sure seems dead.
ok,did all that,looks good then,thank you.
Chip, if you are trying to figure out whether your compass calibration is proper: rotate the Iris and see if the compass readings (from APM, mission planner, or droidplanner) make sense, e.g. 4 main directions are 90 degrees to each other.
Hi Chip, that all depends on where you are in the world. Trying performing the compass calibration within mission planner and it should take care of that for you.
anyone know what the iris+ ideal compass numbers are?
Thank You.
8.1 is blocking the port it needs to download the firmware code. Please open a discussion next time instead of using this comment.
Hi ,
I'm trying to use Mission Planner 1.3.15 on Windows 8.1 to load ArduCopter 3.2 on my IRIS.
When I select ArduCopter V3.2 Quad, I get this error:
thanks.
