    Hi Mirko,

Could you please provide a picture of the other side of the MINI and identify where the resistors are located and their values.

    Hi All,

Spektrum has come out with a PPM output R/C receiver called the AR7700. It also includes a remote satellite receiver for $59 from Horizon Hobbies.

The Spektrum Overview indicates that it works with the APM2.6 and Pixhawk so it should work with the BBBMINI.

  • Had a nasty crash yesterday.  Thanks Mirko for your help reviewing the dataflash log and fixing the problem! The copter flies perfectly now.

A big tip to BBBMINI users... Don't forget Step 28 on Mirko's software instructions:

Adjusting the BBB clock sudo sed -i 's/GOVERNOR="ondemand"/GOVERNOR="performance"/g' /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils

I had neglected to make this change and encountered timing glitches throughout the flight, including a 2 second interruption in the ArduCopter process which triggered the crash.

Anyway, I rebuilt last night and had an awesome flight today.  (One big advantage of a 3D printed frame, I don't have to wait for the mailman.)  No timing glitches in the log file for the entire 19 minute flight, and flight was perfect in every other respect.

Here's a picture of the rebuild.  I ran out of black filament, so the quad is now sporting some new blue parts.

And yes, that is an FM antenna.  Someday I'll make it to the 21st century and buy a 2.4 GHz transmitter...3702134482?profile=original

  • New bbbmini takes flight!  The frame is 3D printed.  Thanks Mirko for a great PCB design and doing the legwork of getting the APM code running on the BBB.  This has been a fun project.

  • Hello Mirko

Thanks for developing BBBMINI is the spirit of DIY, I tell you I built the bbbmini a perforated circuit board using their schemes, works perfect now make the first flight in stabilized and had a great flight with 3.4 Dev Master, I will perform more tests .

    Hi All,

Through some software magic Linus got my 3DR uBlox LEA-6 with level shifter working with our BBBMINI!

While being indoors I was able to get around 9 sats and an HDOP of around 1.3.

    Hi All,

Linus and I have had only marginal success attempting to use a GPS with the MINI GPS input.

I tried using a 3DR uBlox LEA-6 module with the MINI through a level shifter (3v to 5v) without success.

Linus, I believe has gotten a 5v GPS to work intermittently through a level shifter.

As anyone else managed to get a GPS working with the MINI whether a 5v GPS with a level shifter or a 3v GPS?

    Regards,

    TCIII AVD

  • @Chris

you have to set the parameter RNGFND_TYPE to 6. In the RFIND_test code there is the sensor type hard coded, so maybe you have to modify the code. Try to read the HC-SR04 direct with APM Planner 2.0 (Initial Setup->Optional Setup->Range Finder Range (m)).

    Regards

    Mirko

Build drone BBBmini

I saw on the Linus page that he stopped selling the BBBmini kit, so I ordered a shenzhen2u, it arrived in 30 to 40 days.In the kit, it features a mounting bracket for the HC-SR04, my question is: should it be mounted in front of the drone, to avoid obstacles / collisions? Or should it be mounted below the drone for the altitude hold function? Or can I put 2 sensors: one to avoid frontal collision and another to hold altitude?I found in Banggood a breakout board with the I2C and UART…

BBBmini / Matek HUBOSD8-SE / Current & Voltage sensing

First time poster and newb DIY drone builder. So please pardon my ignorance.I've sourced parts for a DJI Flamewheel 450 clone. Obviously the FC is the BBBmini, along with the recommended baro, gps, sonar sensors also picked up a genuine 3dr telemetry radio which will be connected via UART. Finally I've ordered a set of Castle Creations DMR 30/40 ESCs.I'm left with identifying the PDB and motors. I have some used DJI 2212 920KV motors that I may swap out for some EMAX or Multistar 2213 or 2216…
