Andrew Fernie commented on Andy Little's blog post Ardupilot Flight Controller with on-chip OSD
"Well done Andy. Let me know when the PCB design package is ready and I will warm up my soldering iron.

Andrew Fernie commented on Andrew Fernie's blog post Extracting data from tlog files for plotting in Excel
"There may be others, but I found these three time parameters:
1. mavlink_system_time_t.time_boot_ms
2. mavlink_gps_raw_int_t.time_usec
3. mavlink_global_position_int_t.time_boot_ms

I checked one of my own tlog files and the three values looked…"

"As long as the VFR_HUD packet is being logged you will find the throttle parameter.

I don't think there is any mechanism for measuring RPM, so no way to log it. The closest you have is the throttle command.

Andrew Fernie replied to Andy Little's discussion OSD with vector graphics compatible with MinimOSD
"And yes, the card works with Arducopter also. I have built up a V2.1 board (thanks to Andy for providing a blank PCB) and added some new symbology parameters. My version is heavily text based right now, but the OSD will allow for nicer graphics to…"

Andrew Fernie replied to Henny V's discussion Toilet Bowl effect
"Loiter is effectively navigation to a fixed point. If you are east of the desired loiter point, and the aircraft heading is pointing north, the aircraft is commanded to roll left to move back to the west and reduce the error. If you are east of…"

Andrew Fernie replied to Greg Kosin's discussion 3DR OCD text color change?
"No color unfortunately,  just white text. "

Andrew Fernie replied to Andy Little's discussion OSD with vector graphics compatible with MinimOSD
"Thank you Andy. The BOM will save time. I started to get one out of Kicad, but it will be easier with yours. Probably won't have the PCB until mid to late February so I will get an order in to digikey before then. Should be OK for the resistors and…"

Andrew Fernie replied to Andy Little's discussion OSD with vector graphics compatible with MinimOSD
"Thank you Andy.

Ordered three PCB from OSHpark today. That part was painless - soldering those 0603 parts will be more of a challenge."

Andrew Fernie replied to Andy Little's discussion OSD with vector graphics compatible with MinimOSD
"If it goes Kickstarter, I am in. I am so tired of the limitations of the 7456 graphics, and your approach gets around that. There should be an opportunity for someone to come up with a product for sale.

Just interested in using it on the BrainFPV…"

Andrew Fernie replied to Andy Little's discussion OSD with vector graphics compatible with MinimOSD
"I saw the BrainFPV video and was impressed with the OSD - I liked the vector graphics, the ability to mask an area, and the double buffering. Overall more flexible than any of the 7456 based designs. Would your s/w run (with reasonable adaptation)…"

"Ordered one to work on OSD. Sounds like I have my winter project. Now to set up another development environment..."

Andrew Fernie commented on BrainFPV's blog post Brain FPV Flight Controller - Tau Labs - Full Graphic OSD - Made in USA - 36x36mm
"Given that it has full graphics with a mask layer it looks like it could be a nice alternative to the MinimOSD (and all the other MAX7456 chip based designs) to complement the AC - just needs a MAVLink interface module to substitute for the data…"

Andrew Fernie replied to Wilson Frias's discussion Cesna Pixhawk Crashed in FBWA . Autopilot wrong???
"The manual has a lot of good info - start here http://plane.ardupilot.com/wiki/table-of-contents/.  There are quite a few sections and it takes a while for it all to sink in (at least it did for me) so be prepared to go back a few times.

Andrew Fernie replied to Gábor Zoltán's discussion Adding extra functions to MinimOSD
"I like to have the time of day in my symbology to make it easier to match up recording with flights. The time data on the MAVLink used to be limited to time since the APM was booted, but given that we have a GPS available I used to add code to…"
