I was just wondering why there weren't any commercially available flight mode switches like this one posted by a user on here: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/simple-modular-flight-mode-switch-build-it-for-20
or one like jdrones was going to build: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/arduino-modeswitch-with-leds
I tried to build one like Paul posted a write up for but i failed miserably because I'm useless when it comes to little details, I did the wiring fine, the menu just turned out like complete garbage and I give up. If anyone can make me THIS I will pay you a good price. Must be made with the trimpots as shown below:
Just let me know if you can make it, must be good quality. Let me know how much you would like me to pay you and I will send you payment by paypal!
thank you

get a taranis and it will announce (voice) you when the mode has been entered! google "taranis apm modes"
personally like the switches more than the knob, as I do not have to take my fingers off the controls to switch modes.
also, you can program your openTX radio (9xr, taranis, er9x) to indicate on screen which mode you are on by linking the flight modes on the radio with the mode switch and giving the flight modes on the radio names like stab, alt hold, loiter, etc... pretty simple
p.s. check this out, on the taranis you can have the confirmation that a chosen mode was actually engaged:
