Plannified Home vs first GPS fix Home ?

My first missions are all working great, including hand-launching in auto-mode which is a littke gem, RTL, loiter and mission auto-land process.

I am still having a problem though understanding the Home process.

I do not own a laptop or a tablet, therefore I program a mission from my house then move to the field approximately where the programmed Home was planified (but it may be different by 100 meters for instance) and start the mission.

Now what should be the effective Home spot ?

Is it :

a) where I pre-positioned it on the map when programming the mission at my house ?

or

b) where I plug in the battery at the field, and wait for the GPS first fix which may be a bit different from the Home I programmed at my house ?

I seem to have for the moment only a), despite me waiting at the field for the GPS first fix flashing blue light on new 3DR GPS/compass.

Ideal for me would be to have b) in all cases, for safety reasons. So wherever I would go, I would simply unplug the main lipo, re-plug it, wait for the GPS first fix, then that would be my actual new Home.

Thx for you help

  • It's "b".
You can not set Home through Mission Planner until after you get a GPS lock because every time you re-boot is resets the Home.
    • That would be great, but I do not have this result right now.

Maybe I should wait for a few minutes further to the first GPS fix...

      • That did the trick, one has to be patient and wait for 5 minutes further to first GPS fix...
