I received my APM 2.5 and an external UBlox GPS...
I am concerned about the cable connector that came with the unit...
The concern is... that if you look at the red wire (normaly positive 5volts) and the fact that the cable will only plug in one way... If after plugging the cable in and turning the board over, one can see that the RED wire is immediately positioned on top of the trace pad for GROUND, and the POSITIVE trace is on the far side of the connector, over a black wire (assuming maybe ground)...
Is this still correct cable?
Since they are straight through, assuming the underlying traces go to the right places, it MIGHT be allright...
Any comments? is this the way it is truly wired? Or should I keep worrying without just trying it?

Hi Tim,
You have possibly solved your issue by now but I thought I would post in case any one else has a similar issue. I connected my ublox using a longer cable from DIYDrones - all the LEDs came on and the GPS claimed to have a lock but "no GPS" in the Mission Planner. As soon as I tried again with the original (supplied) GPS cable it all worked. I haven't checked yet but I expect that I will have to swap TX and RX at one end of the long cable to fix the problem. Thanks for your post - it helped me solve my own problem.

@Tim,
Yes the cable is correct and you do not have to worry about the position of the red wire in the cable in relation to the pads on the back of the GPS.
