So, for those more savvy than I willing to follow along, I uploaded my log file here (I assume it is the right one as it was the newest one on the device.)

Anyway, to start with, this is so much more incredible than my Blade MX. The extra weight helped it in the wind today, and the quad felt more responsive overall. I took it up, flew some circles, landed with a RTL, everything was fantastic.

Then, for round two, I tried out the loiter mode, cruised up a bit higher, did some simple flying around and about, then as I was checking the telemetry, it seemed acting up on the tablet, so I decided to flip back to stabilize and land. However, as soon as I flicked the switch, the quad decided to flip itself into the ground from the few feet it was hovering.

Basically, I want to know if I was accidentally holding the controller and caused it to crash itself or if there was another error. However the logs have not been that helpful sofar as they don't even seem to showcase the final switch back to stabilize mode. From everything I looked through, there does not seem to be anything that "off" (I did not see any gaps in data etc)

What I remember from the crash:

  • Quad seemed to have disarmed itself right after smacking into the ground upside down
  • there was some sort of beeping coming from it after it landed
  • As said above, telemetry was not being received on my tablet, and there are no telem logs on the tablet for this flight (I assume software failure on the android side)

My questions for those willing to assist are as follows: Any light on what actually caused the flip? Was it me without realizing it or did the quad freak out? Where are better places to get replacement props than 3dr they seem a bit expensive? Finally, I appear to have lost the screws to one motor. The motor seems to work fine still, but the hole that would hold it in appears stripped. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can still use it?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

All in all, it was a pretty positive experience, nothing massive broke, and I made sure to keep it far enough away at all times to be sure it would not cause anyone problems.

  • Hello, I recently had my first crash as well. Nothing major but the screws holding in one of the motors fell out. My kit came with a number of screws but the ones of the original length no longer seem to reach far enough down to grab the motor.

I could use the longer screws that came with IRIS but I worry that the motors were designed to pop out easily during a crash and the longer ones would hold the motors in, causing further damage in the next crash.

I was wondering what you ended up doing with your copter.

    Thanks!
