Heavy lift octocopter build information.

Hi all,

Just signed up for the forum and need some help from older and wiser heads.

I am planning to start a heavy lift octocopter build in the near future.  I will be using the UAV for the purposes of professional aerial videography so, obviously, I want to build something with enough thrust to sling a decent (but small) pro hd camera into the wild blue.

And yes, I realize that using UAVs for commercial purposes is illegal at the present time (without special FAA permission).  However, the FAA is currently taking public comment on proposed regulations for this area and we can expect to see reasonable regulations allowing the commercial use of drones in the next couple of years (or so they say).

About me, I have been actively involved in rc since 1969.  First with nitro but I switched over to electrics as soon as the technology became viable.  I have a good understanding of the various components required to build a UAV, what they do, and how they work and go together.  As a computer tech, given the plethora of ready-to-go, off the shelf components I am not even a little bit daunted by taking on this project.

I realized that there is probably already a lengthy and thorough thread on this topic.  Could someone please point me in the right direction?  Thanks in advance.
