Hello Guys, I just joined this community, so I am new here. I plan to make (build from scratch) rc multicopter (preferably quad) for my final university project. I am going to fly my quad carrying extra 2 kg (about 4 pounds) of load, excluding camera for 15-20 minutes per flight (flight range doesn't really matter, I'll just use 2.4 Ghz Tx-Rx). I plan to use Go Pro Camera. I dont need pan and tilt system for my camera though. What kind of brushless DC motor, prop, frame, esc, flight controller, power distribution board and battery should i get for my quad? I never fly nor build any kinds of multicopter, so this is really my first time building and flying a quad. Any recommendation and advice will be greatly appreciated. :)

hello you need to be more specific in what your using the craft for and size you thinking . well here build kit you may like along with suggested TxRx

Thank you very much for your reply, kind Sir :) I propose search and rescue quad for my final project, where the quad will be used for carrying supply (1 litre of bottled water which weights 1 kg) and 1 GPS or walkie talkie for lost adventurers, which will be used by the lost adventurers to communicate with rescue team. I think by adding the mass of the bottled water, gps or walkie talkie and camera, the payload will be about 2 kg. Since this is only for university final project (educational purpose), of course I don't actually plan to use it for real search and rescue action. I only focus on whether the quad will be able to lift extra 2 kg. Size? well, anything necessary to deliver the payload.
So, you mean to tell me that its actually possible to build this kind of quad with the list you gave? I estimated the quad's mass will be about 3 kg at most (it's only a guess. I hope its less than 2 kg) and another 2 kg of payload, which means the total mass will be about 5 kg.
I see, so its hexacopter, not quadcopter. I read somewhere that states the thrust capacity must double the mass, which means if my copter is 5 kg including the extra payload, that means the thrust generated must be 10 kg, divided by motors providing the thrust (in this case 6 motors). That would mean each motor has to provide about 1700 gr (1,7 kg) of thrust. What kind of motor+prop should i get to achieve this, and what battery should i use to provide power for 6 motors?
well tings kinda get expensive when you scale up Yes your looking at Hex or Oct copter, you need 16 inch prop to 18 inch prop size so you need motor that will sing that size prop suggest on the cheep Tarot 5008 340KV will swing 17-18 inch prop or SUNNYSKY X4110S 340KV or SUNNYSKY X3508S 380KV 15-16 inch prop at this size vibration can be an issue pleas get a decent rigid CF frame on the expensive side try Tiger motor U5 or MN4014 330kv , NM3508 380kv. you can aso look at cheeper brand motors like EMAX and LD power .
