HK Cloner board won't update

Here's a strange one...

Got a $75 HK cloner APM2.5 board, just to see what it's like...and it's actually ok! Build quality is good, and even slots into a genuine 3DR case without problems.

Even works ok too - Baro is accurate, picks up the ublox no problem, the gyro's run fine, and the telemetry is ok, and everything is hunky dory.

Except...

It won't update from 2.9.1 to 3.0.1 via USB. Telemetry even works fine via USB, but it keeps crashing when doing the update, with error: "Communication error - no connection". I've just updated MP to 1.2.80 - would it be that?

Also - the Acc calibration just flashes through the various steps without pausing for the "any key" - doesn't matter if I select the 2.9 or 3.0 options. Is this an MP issue, or an issue with the board?

I may have to resort to Arduino to do the update, but would rather avoid it.

  • I have one, works fine in all regards.

  • Huh... I wonder if HK shipped boards without the proper bootloader?  Wouldn't be the first time.
