How to control the Ground Speed

Hi folks!

My plane flies well in the same direction of the wind and so fast (65km/h ground speed and 43 km/h air speed). But, the problem is against the wind! It start to make snakes from waypoint to waypoint...and flies very slow...(30km/h ground speed and 65km/h air speed). I have upgrade My GPS mediatek to version 1.6 but I think that it is not the entire issue.

I have set 18m/s Airspeed cruise and 55% Throttle cruise in the parameters screen.

I don t know if I´m doing something wrong..

I think that when the plane flies in the wind direction it goes well because ground speed is high, so, I must keep high or constante ground speed ! right?

  • HI Franco,

I would like to know if you were able to fix your speed,

    I have this question:

HI, I am using the APM 2.6 on Maja too.

I have some questions regarding the plane speed and the wind speed

I have the plane without an airspeed:

If the plane is defined to fly from a waypoint to another at speed 45km/h and if the wind speed is at 30km/h, at what speed the plane will fly?

A- if the wind direction is with the same direction of the plane, will the plane flies at the speed of 75km/h

B- if the wind direction is against the plane direction, will the plane flies at 15km/h?

C- will the plane adjust the speed to keep it at around 45km/h?

D- if yes, how it will do it? Based on GPS and Compass? if no airspeed is installed

E- if no. It means it needs an airspeed sensor to adjust the plane speed, isn't it?

Your reply is very important for us.

You selected APM Mission Planner as your topic, so I think people are confused by what you're using. Are you flying the latest ArduPlane software?

  • Please any suggestions for this issue???
