Hi, I have the telemetry port connected to 2 x XRF modules. The whole costs 32 € incl XBBO and runs on 314 MHz to 915 MHz (software) baudrate at 57600th Works great. Dear greetings from Germany :-)

Nice find.

And these can be used with the same interface boards as the Xbee?

yes :-)

for the 57600 baud you must set packet sie @ 140

What frequency do you use? Because i've saw that you can change between several frequencies.  Can you tell me what exactly do you bought and in which quantity ?  Thank you.

Hi Karsten,

What range have you been getting with these units, and on which MHz are you running them at?

Do they have the duty cycle on the 868 MHz setting which kills the Xbee 868's for use here in the EU?

I will stay with the 2.4 GHz Telemetry kits which are known to work well and have full EU certification, I can't see how these will work with the APM 2 I guess we will see what the other people say about them.

Regards

Martin.

868,3 MHz

Test from England :

openmicros.org/index.php/component/kunena/7-communications-and-protocols/60-achieving-34km-with-default-xrf-antennas?Itemid=0

been any evidence of achievement of these modules?

Powers that are sold?

Good news, greetings.

exactly the same as XBee.

I use as a frequency of 868.3 MHz.

I've bought two xrf and two active xbbo (1 set for apm and 1 set on the PC with serial cable)

Hi Karsten,

So are these units legal / illegal for use in the UK & EU then? The reason I ask is, that I think they offer oustanding value for the features and range, but after spending weeks looking into the 868 band and spending a good sum of money, they were useless as there is a requirement for the "duty cycle" :(, I have another 868 option sitting here on my desk right now, its more expensive however they make these units look like they are very short on range, but are illegal to operate here in the EU, and that's why they are not being sold for telemetry use right now.

So do these units have the "duty cycle"?

Martin

In Germany, 868 for audio and alarm systems generally approved as ISM. and of course only as a short range. more I can say it either. The modules can also be operated at 433 and the ISM but is also approved for home use.

Hi Karsten,

I'm trying two XRF modules,

When I try to connect APM it start to get param list but do not complete the operation.

In the debug windows I've a lot of crc errors.

I've, like you suggested, setup the packet size to 140.

Do I've to setup any other parameter in XCM? Sleep, Flow Control, Radio data rate?

I'm using a standard 57.6 firmware setting, and with the original Xbee module it work fine.

THANKS a lot!

Hi Jason, I've a similar situation.

After many tests, I've found a good configuration with low packet loss.

The main problem is that these devices work in a different mode from Xbee and I've found the problem in the internal conversion from "cable to RF".

I've abtained a lot of info from ciseco support forum, they has sent to me a new firmware for a better conversion.

But for me is too unstable so I've abandoned this produtc.

BYE!
