I'm getting ready to order the uDrones assembled board set. It comes with the MediaTek GPS board standard, and offers an upgrade to the U-Blox5 for an extra $50.
What's the difference between the two units? Better GPS reception? More features?
Many TIA!

I have had great experience with Ublox and Arduplane and terrible experience with the recommended Mediatek V2.0. Both from diydrones.

The ublox firmware is considered superior by the Paparazzi folks who tested a truckload of GPS units a few years ago. It has an optional binary protocol that is easier/faster/less code to parse than NMEA. OTOH, the helical antenna is not optiimal for UAVs. But I would still take the ublox. Fragile or not.
