Mission planner crashes on start up - Windows 10

Hello,

Im using windows tablet (generic one with intel atom onboard).

Mission planner worked perfectly on this tablet until the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. At the moment I am not able to run it - crashes at start up.(APMPlanner2 and Qgroundcontrol works without any problems). .Net Framework 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 updated, newest drivers for all devices ....

As an attachment screenshot of Mission Planner.

you do have .net 4.0 installed? 4.5 doesn't always explicity include older versions

    • Yes, newest net framework 4.0 :/

      • uninstall again. reboot this time then go to C:\Program Files and make sure to delete the Mission Planner directory completely. Download it again and install and then try again.

If that fails I have 2 older versions online [one for XP, the other I keep for APM boards] and simply download, extract, and run missionplanner.exe and see if either load.

        1.2.99

        1.3.32.7

Personally what "I" would do in this case is back up your computer and download the x64 iso from microsoft and install a clean windows. Patch and update. then install your apps again clean.

Before installing [and just in case it asks] download this and run it so you can get a copy of your Windows 10 product key product cd key viewer then use that key on your installation.

        Download Windows 10

        • Unfortunately MP still do not want start, despite the steps above - the installation of 64bit versions (32 bit version of Windows 8.1 was not generating any problems) or reverting to a previous version of Windows is not really an option.

Older versions posted by You does not work also.

A little messed up - it turned out that I had no framework 4.0
The installed version is 4.6.1, which is part of Windows 10 and according to M $, completely replaces the previous versions.
Attempts to install any lower versions: 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 fails - the installations throw a message about the more recent version is already installed.
Maybe the problem is actually .NET Framework - unfortunately I am not so proficient to deal with the problem :(

          • Maybe this video might help. I have dotnet 1.1 on up on windows 10 and have no real issues with them

            • Thank You for Your effort, but still nothing :(

    • That's the same file I attached and he said it didn't help :( I'm going to install Win10 x86 in a vm later tonight to see if it might be a x86 issue.

  • Try right clicking and run as administrator. Also are you running Windows x86 and not x64?

The error is a malformed XML and the file is MissionPlanner.exe.config with the line #7 having the error.

    "<startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">"

Try replacing your file with this one

    MissionPlanner.exe.config

    • Yes, windows10 is x86 (win 8.1 was also x86)

Administrator mode - still no go.

Replacing Your file - still no go.

      :/
