My First Quadrotor Build

Hey guys, I want to build a quad rotor, but I have zero experience with anything RC. I've been researching motors, ESC's, boards, and batteries, and I think I have put together a fairly capable order from hobby king. If you have any input on my gear, please speak up! I think I've researched everything for compatibility, but I could easily be wrong. Compatibility is my biggest concern. (I'm building my quad for just park flying, possibly mount a Contour HD camera to the bottom)

Flight Control Board-

MultiWii 328P Flight Controller w/FTDI & DSM2 Port

Props- (2)

10x4.5 SF Props 2pc Standard Rotation/2 pc RH Rotation

Motors-

NTM Prop Drive 28-30S 800KV / 300W Brushless Motor (short shaft version) with accessories

ESC's-

Turnigy Multistar 20 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC 2-4S

Tx, Rx-

Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx & Rx V2 (Mode 1)

Battery-

ZIPPY Compact 1800mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack

Turnigy 420 Balancer/Charger 2S~4S

Hobbyking 60w Power Supply

Misc-

XT60 to 4 X 3.5mm bullet Multistar ESC Power Breakout Cable

10CM Male to Male Servo Lead (JR) 26AWG (10pcs/set)

Again, If you see any compatibility issues, post them. Thanks!

This is a build blog that may help you
  • Another question, does the board require a power source (wire) from the wiring harness? Or does it obtain it's power from the connectors from the esc's?
  • What frame are you using?

  • That's a pretty small battery. Since you're already paying for hk shipping, you might consider a pair of larger (3000-3500) ones. 1800 will work, but flight time will probably be under 5 mins.
  • Additional Info:

    Motors: 20A, 300W 3s-6s Lipoly

    ESC: 20A 2-4 cell Lipoly

    Battery: 1800mAh, 3S1P 3 cell 11.1V 25C

Will the battery be enough to power my board, motors and speed controllers?
