Need Help with PID Settings

Hi All ,

First of all  thanks for the comments which I have gone through on this forum and able to take first flight with my APM Quadcopter after reading them.

I would like to enhance the flight experience and would like to make it smooth same as I have seen AirDog(http://www.airdog.com/)  which take the flight smoothly  and hold on some 3-4 feet height to get the balance and then start flying .

I have read that for this I need to tune the PID setting  but what exactly do I need to do is something which I am unable to understand .

Please guide me so that my quad will fly smoothly I have tried to tune the PID but unable to achieve it :(
