Name is Myk, and I live in Michigan. I don't have a drone, but am researching them. I am a seasoned forum user since about 1980 or so when I ran my own 2 line BBS system.
A Google search for "drone forum" brought me here. Site looks good. Interesting forum setup NING has.
I used to do RC boats years ago, and more recently I had 8 or 10 helicopters to mess with. They were fun, but then drones started being noticed. Sold the copters on CL.
So, here I am, retired, reading, listening, and getting ready to consider a serious purchase of a hobby use quad.

I have been retired for two years now and was looking for a hobby. I thought about building my own since I had the time but felt there was too many unknown pieces to the puzzle and decided to go with an IRIS from 3DR.
It has been a great experience for me and I have learned a lot that I think I could now build my own. I like the IRIS due to its open source since a was a computer programmer system engineer. It also records ever thing you do in a flight log so others and yourself can determine what happened on every flight.
It also interfaces with a desktop computer or tablet so you can fly it and program it. Many hours of enjoyment from it.
Oh, and you can actually learn how to fly one too.
