Hi all,I would consider myself a newbie when it comes to UAVs. I've been fascinated by the growth in drones over the last few years and I finally decided I wanted to build for a few reasons. First, the cost. I don't have the money to drop $1,000-1,500 on something I'm learning to fly and can potentially break. Next, I wanted to build as a learning experience in terms of how they work and how they are built. I've been reading Build a Drone by Barry Davies and it has been extremely helpful. At this point you're probably wondering why I'm asking if I should build or buy when it sounds like I want to build. As I've been reading this book a lot of the suggested parts are by 3DR. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they are out of business or on their way out, so I'm worried about comparability/getting replacement parts if that's the case. Thoughts? Additionally, I noticed on Amazon the 3DR Solo is now selling for a price of like $400. Again, they are probably liquidating inventory, but this seems to me like a steal for a first drone. Again, I haven't pulled the trigger yet bc of the worry about no tech support if something goes wrong/getting replacement parts. Based on all of that what would you guys suggest I do? Buy the 3DR inventory that is being liquidated at fire sale prices or build my first drone? Thanks for the help!
