Newbie Question with new 3DR kit

I recieved my new 3DR kit with electronics last week and spent most of the weekend assembling it.  I will admit it was a little difficult finding the relevant info for each component, but with enough searching I think I finally managed to track down all most of the ambiguities.  However, I'm stumped on this one.

I followed this guide for assembly:

I soldered the Orange/White/Red/Black leads exactly as show in the above manual (even though the silk screening was not exactly the same)

And this one for connecting radio:

Ever picture I could find shows that cable as one white and 3 orange wires, so I have no idea is Orange or black is supposed to be the "white" pin when plugging in to the oilpan.

If someone could clarify this, I would greatly appreciate it.  I dont want to take the change and plug it in backwards.  The first two attached pics of from the assembly manuals.  The last is a pic of the connector supplied with my kit.

  • You need to be carefull here becuase the instructions are not good.

Follow the instruction about which color wire go to which motor.

The 4 pin connector should have (orange) motor 1 on the right hand side when it is plugged into the APM.

Initially I had my power distribution board inverted which meant in X mode motors 3 and 4 were swapped.

    That didn't end well.

The board you see in the manual which says this side down (although your board is different it still has a negative and positive side) is definitely not that side down, it is that side up.

Put a sticker indicating which motor is which on your frame.

Make sure you run the motor leads to the appropriate side of the copter arm and therefore the correct power and signal jumper.

Finally do the motors CLI test.

I'll have the 3DR guys clarify this.
