Nitro engine settings

Just got my first APM and have it all set to test but one setting I'm not sure about is the min, max, and cruise throttle settings. Unfortunately my Futaba radio does not show what percentage of throttle is being applied [ it figures my kids cheap China radio does that! grrrr ] . I run the engine up to the rpm I think will be a good cruise speed. Then I look and I can see in the radio calibration page of mission planner the PID number associated with that rpm . But when I go to the settings page it is asking for the throttle percentage, not the PID number. I would like to be able to confirm both the cruise speed and min and max setting prior to flying somehow and can't for the life of me figure it out. I did do the math [ I think  ha ] and figured out what percentage my desired cruise speed [ PID number ] SHOULD be via the PID max and MIN. But is there any way to force the APM to go to the min, max, and cruise on the ground so I can confirm it's correct??

    Hi Richard,

To go from PID number to percentage just divide the RC3 range. So if RC3_MIN is 1100 and RC3_MAX is 1900 then 50% throttle is 1500.

btw, there are a few useful settings for nitro planes. Have a look at these ones:

    THR_SUPP_MAN

    THR_PASS_STAB

    THR_SLEWRATE

I use those on my nitro planes to make it easier to taxi. I set THR_SLEWRATE to 30 to prevent the throttle changing too fast in AUTO, as that can cut the engine (I have a OS-55AX).

    Cheers, Tridge
