Photo-mapping software

Hello,

Anyone one know what a decent photo-mapping software might be?  I'm not looking to spend a fortune but would like to create a map by overlaying my photos; it can be 2D or 3D.  Ensomosaic and APS look great, but I believe they are a pretty penny.  Also, are there input requirements for each software type (does data have to be collected in a certain way, like with IMU's)?

  • Not sure about Ensomosaic or APS, but we use 4Dmapper.  No IMU data required, just general long lat and alt geo tags.  Actually you can even forego the geotags, but accuracy decreases and processing time increases.  Gives you DSM's with the ability via the Ray editor to do things like volumetrics.  It also has the ability to add ground control points from either map servers or your own RTK.

    • Great.  Thank you for you help.

      • Oh, one other thing about pricing.  You can rent to software and then when you decide to buy the last 12 months of payments are applied to you purchase!  That's what we're doing right now.  And one month of rental is cheaper than a small project processed on Cloud so it's a pretty good deal.

        • Hi Shaun,

I tried to Google 4Dmapper and the only soft I could find was this pix4d.com

          Is this what you use?

          • We use 4DMapper.  It's pretty amazing!  You can try out 3 trials on the cloud processing and 4DMapper for a week or two for free.  It's not cheap, but can't imagine using anything else.
