Quadcopter is flipping forward while take off

Hi,

I'm having some serious trouble lately while trying to get my quadcopter to work.

when it lifts off, it leans forward-left and flips.

I have double checked :

- ESC are connected correctly, at the right order

- Right props are on the right motors

- Changed the CCW motors to spin counter clockwise.

I am using the "X" configuration.

I could not download any log files as i'm using the 3.2 firmware version.

Specs:

- APM 2.5.2 with built in compass

- 4 sunnysky 980kv motors

- 4 afro 30a esc

- 1 5000 mah lipo

- q450 frame (with PCB)

I have calibrated accelometer, compass and radio in the mission planner software.

Someone has suggested that the magnetic interference could cause this, so I have disabled the compass but it still occurs.

One thing that i've noticed today and that have never happened before is that after calibrating my ESC, the final "beep" was coming out 2 motors and after 0.5 a second it came from the other 2 motors aswell

I could not reproduce it but perhaps it might point us to the problem?

I would appericiate any help as I am really confused and feel lost.

Thanks in advance!

  • on my first flights mine did a similar thing. what I did is push the sticks in the opposite direction that it was trying to tip..carefully just enough to counter reactupon take offupon take off. I actually got up and started to hover decently after a few seconds after that it took off like normal

  • whenever I had a misbehaving board I would reburn the firmware.

in 90% of cases this solved the issue.

Also look closely for any slipping props or anything mechanical, alignment, weight balance.

Also if the legs dig in and grip while trying to take off slowly, this can be caused by ground effect.

The last 'crash test dummy' I built (threw together) did this on take off. But if you just gave it a small burst to get it to 1m off the ground it flew fine. Takes off lowly on a hard smooth surface where it can skid a bit. Doesn't take much.
