Variable Pitch Hexacopter

Hey,

I'm a student working on a senior design project for which we are making a gas powered hexacopter with the goal of having prolonged flight time. We are working on modifying the code, and we want to include variable pitch. The problem is our coder is new to ardupilot and we are looking for suggestions on where to start. Has anyone done something similar that would be willing to help?

Any and all advice is appreciated :)

Here is a link with a more detailed overview of our project for anyone who is interested:

  • Hi everyone, I'm also on this team. We will keep you guys posted as we get the final prototype ready to fly. We plan to get the fiberglass cut today and tomorrow, then will be assembling it for the remainder of the week for a potential flight test this weekend. We are just afraid we might be missing something in the stock code that may cause problems for us.

We obviously know the PID values will be completely off, but I have been tuning ardupilots since 2011 so this won't be a problem hopefully. Also will be changing the RC_SPEED to a lower value that best suits the servos. Other than that, we plan to have the throttle servo directly plugged into the rc receiver since the arducopter code will need to be modified to add a "throttle" output besides the variable-pitch outputs.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
