ok , for hobby grade seems few guys here does aluminum

after several months of procrastination its time to get this bird to finally fly

1.3KG AUW in only 850kv 3s the maiden was on Aug15,15 then reflown on Aug 31,15

should be my first metal build aircraft, and it should be scale able. the original design been feature , the guys at our field have several concern of being underpower for having a tiny motor for such a big plane. my reason is its what I've got and have to build a plane that flies on so little power.

  • those were the old days, now everyone is building composite or Foam . but no kidding there is still beauty with something build from metal.  in comparison balsa planes are light. if you build completely from aluminum , that's a different story.

  • First time I saw balsa covered with aluminum foil wings was 1978. It was a free flight gliders.

Super light and strong construction that looked absolutely awesome and slick!

  • all I could say is its a scale down version of most ultralights and they're plenty of plans online , so construction is basically similar you drill holes on the tubes then you bolt them to other tubes, while some would use rivets , I went for the nut and bolt direction should any part breaks its easily replace. sure your location has plenty of metal shops and metal working tools to help you build, the thing about aluminum frame  is you have to build big. they dont work well in small sizes.due to weight.

  • nice to see frames made of aluminium. aluminium is so easily available at hardware shops.  we all would like to see a close up of the frame to see how the frame has been joint.

I think the CG on your plane is slightly to the rear as per the video flight.

  • Hi Gary , yes . im mainly do foam Airframes but this project adds a little twist to my skill
