The CanberraUAV team spent last Sunday playing with our new Hero 3 camera.

This is our X8 flying wing (piloted by Tridge) running through it's paces at CMAC:

  • Lloyd - The X8 belongs to Andrew Tridgell (Tridge). You should be able to contact him through his user profile on DIYDrones. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you a copy of the parameters

  • Your flights look very smooth. Is the camera mounted inside the plane in the reserved space or on top.

Any chance I could get a copy of your X8 parameters.

Having lots of trouble with mine losing altitude whilst in loiter mode.

  • The takeoff and cruise sequences were 1920x1440 at 50 fps

Both of the landings were 2704x1524 at 30 fps

Other than that, we had the 'Protune" feature on. Otherwise default settings

Of course, they were all downsized to 1920x1080 at 25 fps for Youtube.

    Hi Oliver,

It is a black H3. The resolution was changed quite a few times during the flight via the android wireless app. We do use 2.4GHz RC (a FrSky), and didn't experience any problems, possibly because the camera is quite a long way from the receiver. We used the housing that came with the camera.

    Cheers, Tridge

  • Nice flight. How about some information please? Is this the Black H3?  What resolution & other settings? What interface are you using with camera (iphone/ipad or android or manual) and if android what device? Was wireless switched on during flight and is your Tx 2.4 gig? Was the camera in a Go Pro housing or "bare"? Numerous folks will find this sort of information useful. Thanks!
