DIY Drones Take on Silicon Valley

Amateur drone makers are sending their do-it-yourself creations up into the skies of Silicon Valley. WSJ's Andy Jordan reports from San Francisco on the stunning footage they're capturing.

When i first saw this video , i thought you must be using FPV, as it was so good, and you seem to travel further than line of sight. So i must congratulate you on having such good flying skills, as i constently loose my quad once it gets further than a few hundred feet. :-)

I noticed quite a large overhang on your prop mountings, I thought I saw a few vibrations at one point. Any aerodynamic vibration can get magnified into an eccentric movement. Those motor arms must be very stiff.

Nice vid. and flying. Is that a GoPro fixed mounted?

wow that is very good collection of video Jason!  Glad you have a bit more time now to fly that 2.5.x is out and gives a lot more stability.

Those are from Tower hobbies. I have a lot of trouble finding them from other suppliers, but I swear by them. The cheap ones that ship with motors pop off all the time for me.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
