  • Nice DVD delivery, neat.

  • I'll gloss over your comments, partly because you're still bitter about the airframe comments, and because transparently you don't know the difference between an EM and an EPM. Maybe you should look it up on Wikipedia...

What you should have said is that the magfield intrusions would be massive, and would kill all yaw control in the copter. And mentioned the all inclusive weight of a comparable servo *system" is lighter and how it uses *less* wiring than the single 5V servo wire this system can. I'd love to see that.

  • It seems like "the payloader" (just an electromagnet from a solenoid) is a waste of weight because of all the wires and magnets, and contraptions that need to be attached, and it only can carry 1kg, which is pathetic as far as delivery is concerned.

a $10 servo weighs 1/10th of that thing, or less, and can hold more than 1kg securely, just as a simple "door".

Using two servos would make an easy "grabber"

  • As for recommendations - stick to the normal design parameters for a APM2.6 + Arducopter 3.x.x setup (ie good compass separation) and use a standard GPS pole, and it will be fine.

  • None whatsoever, and this was an priority test item.

Basically, the most likely time there will be a significant increase in magfield is doing the state changes. And these only last 0.3 seconds each. In steady state, magfield interference is negligible if you keep to the recommended 10cm of separation.

I am doing a "lite" version for phantoms, but I suspect we will start to see magfield issues there - the phantom compass is down on the leg, and will be only 2-3cm from the magnet.

  • Euan, my concern with your drop system is that the associated magnetic field may interfere with the functionality of the flight controller's magnetometer.  Have you noticed any adverse side effects, or have any recommendations for preventing such issues?

  • Euan, PM Sent.

  • It's available for purchase, but we're having a few issues porting the ecommerce engine over to the new hosting.

The old ecommerce engine is still running, but without SSL so only takes paypal: http://shop.performanceauv.com/

  • You did? Must have missed that...euan "at" performanceuav.co.uk is the address to try.

  • Euan, I've inquired about your product and your company a while back, send me one and I'll make a video about it.
