New Taranis 6 Position Switch

Frsky have finally delivered on a 6 position mode switch for the Taranis.  Unfortunately info is scant at this stage. What I can say is we start to ship these late next week. Installation instructions will be available around the same time.

More info is available here and here.

  • My switch actually feels pretty good for such a small unit so there may be some inconsistent QC issues. The output can be rearranged if you wish. Here is a link on how to do it.

  • you can also use the Slider? so you don't have to take out a Pot.

  • I just installed the 6 position rotory. I'm pretty disappointed with it. Its very stiff and feels crappy. The detents are not at all linear:

    100%, 60%, 50%, 33%, 0%, -100%

The signal jumps to 100% (2012ms) when in between detents, and this occurs momentarily every time I turn the knob.

I still prefer a switch solution on a pot solution because you have to dial through modes you do not want and it is tricky to know what mode you selected on a dial, especially when emergency requires to select a specific mode asap.

Yes, you have not make any firmware modifications, only remove a pot or a 3position switch and place this 6 position swich, you also have to add 5 resistors:

    This switch seems very small!

  • Regarding drilling plastic: An excellent tool for this is a specially made tapered steel hand-held reamer that is intended for making good-size holes in thin plastic R/C car bodies but works on thicker material too. Can be found at a good LHS or of course on line. Also, Dremel sells a bit that looks like a drill but cuts plastics to the sides. Messier than the reamer though.

  • The mode switch replaces one of the pots.

I understand that it if you are into drilling plastic, it may be possible to add a third. Not sure if the standard FW will support this though.
