I've put together a website for a project I've been working on for 2 years now and will hopefully enter it into the Australian Outback UAV Challenge if it's held in 2010. Just wanted to post the website here for those who are interested. I'll post here when I add new entries for the blog with an excerpt for those who wish to follow the progress.

I tried to look but your web site requires Microsoft Silverlight! Looks cool from the picture above but who would *require* Silverlight?

Silverlight is simply the framework on top of which I've built the website for various reasons. It's similar to Adobe Flash. The blog however should be viewable on any standard web browser. Hope you like it! I'll be updating it very soon on developments we are making on our new CNC machine and the new Autopilot revision.

Blended wing goodness, I like, the 2010 OBC is being held fear not.

Dude, I want to see the rest of site but I am not installing silverlight. Perhaps you can make the site so the world can see it?

Gary,
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you are confident 2010 OBC is being held. I sure hope so since I have put in alot of effort already towards it. I hope this year we can have a live coverage on the net so everyone can join in.

Ivan,
Fearing that this could turn into a Silverlight vs. World debate, could I ask why you are so opposed to installing Silverlight? I'm assuming you have Adobe Flash Player installed? Or DirectX? Or .Net Framework? I don't see the difference.

Yes we are already planning that for our chums, hopefully if several people have a go at live coverage one of us will get it right! Get onto Telstra!!

Well I remember getting 3G on my phone which didn't have the best antenna. I wonder if I would get any coverage on the 3G dongle from work. It would have enough bandwidth for Qik to get some live footage.

i would have thought an external 3G something with a beam pointing at town would be just the ticket, but I'm going off topic!

Some of us can't install Silverlight because Microsoft chose to boycott our platforms and/or operating systems and/or browsers (and your web rejects Moonlight, the open implementation of Silverlight). Or maybe your Silverlight detection script is just screwed up (hint: provide a "yes I have it installed dammit" override link). Not to mention that it's very sluggish on light platforms (Intel Atom groundstation). (and screw the blind with their readers, right?) Web standards are here for a reason, people.

That being said, I've managed to decrypt the binary madness and get a peek at some garbled pictures of the AC - looks very polished. What software are you using for the CGI? The bungee catapult is a nice touch :)

Dump Silverlight - if you need some form of dynamic tool then use flash. Best approach is to use the standard web. Having said that the pic looks great and I wish you well on your efforts.
